Best Scone in City – Cobs Bread part 1

Cobs Bread Bakery Scones Lemon Blueberry, Triple Chocolate, Pumpkin

Cobs Bread Bakery Scones Lemon Blueberry, Triple Chocolate, Pumpkin

So, I ventured out with the boyfriend to the Cobs Bakery at Lougheed mall. Not all scones advertised on the website were available, but there was an impressive 4 varieties none-the-less. We tried the pumpkin (with icing), triple chocolate and lemon blueberry. It should be noted that the scones were on the average-to-small side, at the relatively reasonable price of $2.95 each.

All 3 were excellent, and preferences really depend on personal taste. The triple chocolate tasted like a chocolate cake, impressive for a humble scone, but obviously not the lighter alternative. Speaking of lighter, the lemon blueberry’s lightness was remarked and agreed upon, I was most closely reminded of my “perfect scone experience”, a cream tea with cream and jam on a plain scone so floury and fluffy like a cloud, with that authentic homemade from scratch taste at a tea shop across from the cathedral in York, England. However, I must say that the pumpkin was my favourite. The icing was outstanding, on a mild pumpkin flavoured scone. It may not be as flashy as the triple chocolate, which has actual chocolate chips mixed into the dough, I can find chocolates cheap thrills anywhere, but it is the sweet, subtle pumpkin that I will be returning for (and to sample their other offerings).
